Campground Desciption and details: Newly renovated!! Located atop Cheaha Mountain, the highest point in the State, 2,407 feet above sea level, this 2,799 acre mountain top retreat exhibits breathtaking scenery year-round. Seated at your evening restaurant dining table, you can enjoy a spectacular sunset as the perfect complement to an excellent meal. Then after an exhilarating day of hiking, swimming, or photographing nature's beauty, you can retire to a comfortable hotel room, mountainside chalet, cabin or a scenic campsite. You leave the cabin with a camera in hand. Taking a path west, you cross the little stream you've heard gurgling from your front porch. Filtering through red and gold leaves, the late afternoon sun sets everything ablaze, even the water. You head for rocks perched on the mountain's edge, and a few minutes later, you find the perfect spot. Resting on a mossy cushion, your back against a huge gray boulder, you're ready to photograph the sunset. Find all this, and more, at Cheaha State Park. ACCOMMODATIONS Campgrounds 73 sites, all with water, electrical, and sewage hookups. Primitive camping available. Bathhouse, laundry, and campstore nearby. Cabins 5 chalets and 10 stone cabins which accommodate 2-4 people - a place to escape from the noise of TV and telephones. Linens, cooking utensils and outdoor grills furnished. All have fireplaces for cozy winter evenings. Resort Lodge 30 guest rooms in a secluded mountaintop getaway. Each room is furnished including a TV and a telephone. Across from the lodge is a restaurant - open year round with gift shop, banquet facilities, and a swimming pool. Bald Rock Group Lodge accommodates 35 people in an old fashioned stone lodge, complete with dining hall, large kitchen, ice machine and fireplace; accommodates 100-120 people for meetings, reunions, and weddings. MEETING FACILITIES The Cleburne Room, within the Resort Restaurant will seat 40 guests for banquets and up to 50 for meetings and seminars. Choose from an array of excellent banquet menus and seating arrangements. ADDED ATTRACTIONS Hiking Trails along the top of the 2,407-foot mountain, plus many more in the Talladega National Forest which surrounds the park. Picnic Areas with pavilions and playground, on top of the mountain and near the lake. Lake Area with pedal boating, picnicking, swimming and fishing.
