Campground Desciption and details: Nestled among the squirrels and spruce trees, the Tanana Valley Campground in Fairbanks, Alaska, is adjacent to Creamers Wildlife Refuge and the Alaska Bird Observatory. This natural setting hides our central convenient location between the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Visitors Center of downtown Fairbanks. The campground, which adjoins the Tanana Valley State Fair, is just off College Road and right on the bus route. The campground provides 24-hour security and assistance. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table. Showers and laundry facilities are also available. 50 Sites and 30 RV spaces with FIrepits, Picnic Tables, Limited Electrical Hookups, Clean showers, Coin Operated Laundry, Restrooms, Dump Station and Internet Access. The nearby Farmers Market offers fresh Interior Alaska produce and other wares. It is open Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer. Extensive hiking and biking trails are accessible directly from the campground, ranging from paved bike paths that meander throughout Fairbanks to wooded trails where you could easily encounter a moose browsing. (Safety tip: Do not approach moose. They are wild animals and can be dangerous. If you do encounter a moose, simply walk away from it. Do not approach a young moose under any circumstances. The mother is probably close by.)
