Visit the Agua Caliente Reservation and tour any of their four gorgeous canyons, including the Tahquitz, Murray, Palm, or Andreas Canyons. Each canyon was developed into a distinct "community" and remnants of their society can still be viewed today. The reservation spans over 32,000 acres with 6,700 within the Palm Springs city limits. While you're there you can also visit the cultural museum, casino, and spa resort. Joshua Tree National Park also boasts over 1 million acres of spectacular Mojave and Desert landscape. Enjoy hiking, rock climbing, picnicking, photography, painting, and touring throughout the park. Or ride the world's largest rotating tramcars at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The cars rise over two and a half miles over Mt. St. Jacinto State Park and rotate 360 degrees while traveling through 5 unique life zones. A Taste of the Wild. You can also try a Jeep Eco-Tour to the San Andreas Fault. Choose from one of three tours - the Indian Cultural Adventure, Lost Legends of the Wild West, or the Mystery Canyon Adventure. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, located just minutes from Palm Springs, features a variety of exotic animals, interactive exhibits, animal shows, and hands-on discovery rooms. The Zoo also runs various special programs throughout the year. Cultural Experiences. The Palm Springs Desert Museum features exhibits in art, natural scenic, and performing arts. The 125,000 square foot complex was established in 1938, and has earned a reputation for being the premier cultural institution in the desert. The Palm Springs Air Museum offers flying demonstrations from 26 World War II aircraft, new four exhibits each year, along with activities and ongoing scheduled programs. The 67,000 square foot complex also holds lectures, ceremonies, special events, and movie and video presentations.
