Campground Desciption and details: Experience one of Iowa's best-kept camping secrets! Join us at Sundown Lake Recreation area, just 70 miles from Des Moines, for a peaceful country getaway. Our campground is set on 3,000 acres of rolling hills with RV, cabin and tent sites available. Water lovers will get a real thrill from our 450 acre lake. Stocked with bass, crappie, walleye and channel cat, the angler in your family is sure to reel in a great catch. Plenty of hiking and biking opportunities await on our grounds. The kids will have hours of fun at our playground. We have a basketball court for some hoop action. Our pool, restrooms and shower house are always clean and comfortable. No reason to stray from our grounds - we host some great events. Fish with the pros during May's Celebrity Buddy Bass Tournament. July brings the Bluegrass Festival with Country artist John Andersen.
