Directions to the campground: From Louisville, KY: Take US 31 west to US 60 2 miles south of Muldraugh, KY. Take US 60 to Harned, KY turning south on Hwy 259. Travel 9 miles and turn west on Hwy 79. Follow for .5 miles to the Axtel Campground entrance.
Campground Desciption and details: River Lake lies within the "Clifty" area of the Pennyroyal Region of Kentucky. A wide variety of recreational opportunities and facilities has been provided for visitor enjoyment by the Corps and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Visitation at the lake now exceeds two million visitor days annually. This campground has 158 sites, swimming area, boat launching ramp, dump station, flush restrooms, playground, showers and potable water. Important Information Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. 3 night minimum on holidays. No Alcohol. No ATV's or ORV's allowed. The campground is open mid-April to mid-September and sites range from $14-$23/night. Attendants are on duty and the telephone number is (270) 257-2584.
