Campground Desciption and details: Lake Cumberland State Resort Park is one of the most outstanding fishing and pleasure boating areas in the Eastern United States. The park includes many different features and recreational facilities. On the park grounds you will find a large quantity of wildlife including thick populations of white tail deer and raccoon. The scenery of Lake Cumberland State Park's nature trails is some of the most beautiful in Kentucky. On a four mile trail in the Lure Lodge area, you can enjoy the wildlife in the beautiful beech, oak, and hickory forest. The Lure Lodge is a full featured lodge with all the amenities. This 63-room lodge features an indoor pool, gift shop and dining area. Lure Lodge offers some of Kentucky's finest cuisine in the 200-seat dining room. Elegance and outstanding service are yours for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The indoor pool complex at Lure Lodge is a temperature controlled pool featuring an atrium, a retractable sky light for warm weather, a game room, and an exercise room with a hot tub. On the park grounds is also an olympic size public pool open seasonally from Memorial Day to mid-August. Pumpkin Creek Lodge is a 10-room lodge with 3 suites. Everyone will feel right at home with privacy being the main attraction of the Lodge. Pumpkin Creek Lodge also features a meeting room that seats 40, a lobby and a hospitality patio. For even more private accommodations, one and two bedroom cottages are found off the beaten path. Ten Wildwood cottages feature contemporary design and fireplaces. Tableware, cooking utensils, and linens are furnished with fresh linens available daily. The 147-site campground offers utility hookups, two central service buildings with showers and rest rooms, laundry facilities, two dump stations, and a grocery nearby. The campground is open seasonally from April 1st to November 30. Lake Cumberland has unlimited facilities for the water sports enthusiast. The State Dock is located on the grounds offering 100 slips, rental fishing, pontoon, ski, and houseboats along with a launching ramp conveniently placed near the State Dock. With 63,000 acres, Lake Cumberland has all the fishing you could dream of. Game fish of the lake include the largemouth, smallmouth, white and Kentucky bass, bluegill, crappie, rockfish, and walleye. The Cumberland River holds the state record for both rainbow and brown trout. The park consists of both a 9 hole par 3 golf course and an 18 hole miniature golf course. Courses are open year round, weather permitting. The whole family can appreciate the Horse Stables with guided trail rides departing every hour. The Horse Stables open on Memorial day and close in mid-August. The picnic areas have tables, grills, and playgrounds for family picnics. A picnic shelter has tables, grills, water and electric, and may be reserved for as much as a year in advance. The play grounds are the perfect place for a day of fun. The play grounds feature swing sets, slides, teeter totters, etc. and both tennis and shuffleboard courts. Overnight guests may check out sports equipment. The park hosts a variety of special events throughout the year.
