Campground Desciption and details: Natchez State Park is located just 10 miles north of historic Natchez. Natchez is the oldest settlement on the Mississippi River. Prior to the Civil War, over half of the millionaires in the entire United States lived in Natchez, constructing elegant mansions unrivaled in size and elegance by any in the nation. Most of these splendid homes were spared during the Civil War, and many are now open for tours. Natchez State Park is also famous in its own right. The largest bass in Mississippi history - a largemouth weighing 18.15 pounds - was caught in Natchez Lake in 1992. Natchez Lake is well stocked with catfish, bream, and Florida largemouth bass. The park became a hot spot for bass fishermen when the Mississippi record largemouth (18.15 pounds) was caught in the lake in 1992. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. Natchez State Park features ten lakeside, air-conditioned cabins equipped with bed and bath linens and basic kitchen equipment. Reservations are strongly recommended. No pets allowed in cabins. The Park office is open from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
